yea I just moved into my own place, and I'm gunna be getting a TV

I can get a 46" LCD for the same price as a 42" LED, both will be a minimum of 120hz refresh rate

which would be the better investment? I don't have to worry about electricity bills and such .. both are also under 1000$

I personally find that my LED monitor and LCD monitor looks the same, so I wouldn't know about the quality difference (both are 1080p resolution with 1:50000 contrast ratio lcd and 1:1000000 for the LED)

is there any problems with LEDS such as buzzing noises (i know these are brand specific problems with plasmas) and image burning (also problems with newer plasmas)

I don't really care about how thick tv is, its going to be placed on the same stand

i was looking at tvs not too long ago and the new LEDs are so unreal (good thing)... the picture is way more crisp imo.

i sat down and started to watch a movie they had playing and it felt like real life lol.

edit: dont know about the difference in LCD/LED monitors but the tvs, you can tell the difference.

LEDs are technically better.

As TV technology continues to advance, you can't tell as much difference between the sets. A contrast ratio difference from 10,000 to 100,000 is more noticeable with the naked eye than 100,000 to 1,000,000. Most larger sets now have dynamic contrast ratios higher than 1 million, and some boast a much larger number than that. Basically, they are all pretty awesome. What really makes the difference at this point is other features such as web abilities, widgets, brand specific enhancements, etc. Choose based on brand preference and features and select a TV from the current gen or 1 previous generation, no earlier.

My advice: Black Friday is 4 Fridays away.

Save your money, buy the best 46" set with features that appeal to you that you can afford at that time. It will be excellent and you will get it at a great price.

I would: Buy a Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, or Pioneer (stupid fucking expensive) in that order.

But I would also keep in mind how awesome a Logictech Harmony remote is and make sure that I end up with one of those as well.

Just hit up Amazon, Buy.com, newegg, tigerdirect, etc, etc, after Thanksgiving. Get yourself some new blu rays and a couple games to celebrate.

Lol black friday doesn't apply to canada sadly =[

Anyway, I honestly don't really care about the extra widgets, applications and web .. I guess I should take a look into leds though..

I was thinking about buying a sony one since you can sync the two and stuff..

I was looking at these few tv's

I was wondering which would probably be the best to get for an occasional user, I am usually never home..

Should I save my 400$ and get a plasma, or pay the full 1500 for the LED?

i just ordered this, waiting to get it, i will give my opinion of it once i use it some.

i paid $500 for mine, and it looks great so far. i don't really play video games so i couldn't judge it on that. but the colors are great, no blurr in action movies or anything. i can't really give a full analysis on it because i've only had it for a few days.

I'm most likely going to stick with a LED, now the problem is whether to get a 40" or 46"

I know I'll want the bigger one, but my place is pretty small, so I will be sitting roughly 5-6 feet infront of the tv ..

the farthest i can get from my t.v. is about 6 feet and 42" is the absolute biggest i can have. i tried a 52 and i couldn't watch it, it was too big. 46" might not be though, not sure.
